LOCAL CONDITIONS FOR THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

 

Membership Local Conditions

1. Maximum Reward:

The maximum reward may not exceed RD$23,750/year.

 

2. Payment Methods and Currency

a. Payment methods accepted by PriceSmart.com: Visa, Master Card, Discover and Amex (debit card, credit card).

b. Payment currency at PriceSmart.com: Dominican Pesos (RD).

c. Payment methods accepted at the Club cashiers: Dominican Republic: Cash, Visa, Master Card, Discover and Amex.

 

3. Membership Prices*

Diamond Membership: Annual Payment US $40.00, includes one card for the cardholder and an additional card.

Diamond Platinum Membership: Annual Payment US $80.00, includes one card for the cardholder and an additional card.

Business Membership: Annual Payment US $40.00, includes card one for the cardholder and an additional card. Up to 3 additional cards available at US $15.00/each.

Business Platinum Membership: Annual Payment US $80.00, includes one card for the cardholder and an additional card. Up to three additional cards available at US $20.00/each.

 

Membership prices are paid in dominican pesos according to the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Dominican Republic on the day of purchase. Check the amount in local currency at the exchange rate of the day on our  Membership page.

 

4. Online Purchase Rewards and Cashback accumulation

All purchases on pricesmart.com, PriceSmart app and any associated channels will accumulate Platinum membership rewards as per Membership terms and conditions. Members, holders of a co-branded credit card in Dominican Republic, will accumulate cashback for both their online and inclub purchases. 

 

5. Online Purchase Conditions

Delivery purchases only will be restricted for tobacco products. Members understand and accept delivery service orders with tobacco products will be processed without these items. Click&Go purchases allow tobacco product purchases; membership card holders may be required to present ID to pick up orders containing tobacco products.

 

6. Legal age to purchase/renew a membership, purchase alcohol and tobacco products

In the Dominican Republic, a person is considered of legal age when they are 18 years of age or older. Online and in-club purchases of restricted items, including but not limited to alcohol and tobacco, must comply with the local legal age defined to acquire these goods, which, in the case of the Dominican Republic, is 18 years of age or older.

 

Other Conditions

1. About the cobranded credit card conditions during Smart Week

The maximum refund amount is RD$10,000.00 per customer on the consolidated consumption made with one or more of the participating card(s) in the name of the same customer during the Validity Period of the Promotion. The refund will be applied no later than 45 calendar days after the end of the Promotion Period. It only applies to purchases made with the Scotiabank® Installment Line found on Cards from two (2) and up to forty-eight (48) installments from the point of sale. Does not apply in conjunction with other offers. Applies to PriceSmart Visa Personal Credit Cards with the Scotiabank® Installment line. Scotiabank participates only as a means of payment. Any claim or warranty must be addressed directly with the business where the purchase was made. Scotiabank is not responsible if the trade does not apply the benefit or ends early. ®Trademark The Bank of Nova Scotia, used under license.

2. About the Home Delivery Service for Large Size and Heavy Weight Items

Home delivery is a service provided by PriceSmart to deliver orders and items that because of their size and weight (+9.5 cubic feet and/or +100lbs) are not eligible for Standard Delivery (Next day) or Express Delivery (Same Day). 

These deliveries are scheduled 3 times a week and follow the same distance limitation of that of our other delivery services. These may vary by country. 

For PriceSmart to provide the Home Delivery service some conditions must be met: 

1. Members must confirm that product or products purchased can be handled and pass through the access tunnel to your final address, whether they are door frames, elevators, stairs, corridors, or any other physical restriction of the property where the delivery will be made. 

2. The product will be left in the Lobby or first floor if it is delivered to a building. If the building has a suitable freight elevator within which the product can be transported, the delivery staff will help you get the item up to the designated floor. If the delivery is to a residence, the delivery personnel could deposit the product in the place selected by the member if the conditions mentioned previously are met. 

3. For the safety of the people in charge of the delivery and protection of the product, it will only be properly handled with its original packaging until the final delivery site. 

4. Once the product is at the disired adress, the member must remove the packaging and examine the product carefully, it must arrive in perfect condition without any damages.  If the member is satisfied, he or she must sign the delivery documents or the delivery application as proof that the item has beed delivered in perfect condition. 

5. If the item is not in perfect condition the member must not accept it and return it to the delivery personnel, detailing the reasons for non-acceptance in writing in the delivery form or application. 

6. The member must guarantee the reception and attention to the Home Delivery staff on the agreed delivery date. If the delivery cannot be concluded due to non-compliance or non-availability of the member, a second delivery will be scheduled with an additional charge that the member must pay. 

7. If the member lives an apartment or the delivery is any type of building, the member is responsible to comply with all restrictions and regulations.  In the case that the delivery can’t be executed because of a noncompliance with the building’s regulations; an additional charge would be made for failed delivery that must be assumed by the member. 

8. PriceSmart assumes the responsibility to deliver the purchased product in perfect condition to the address assigned by the member, only if the member complies with the conditions stated above. 

9. At the time of purchase, the member will be informed of the day of delivery, but not the exact time. 

10. Delivery personnel are not authorized to handle the product other than the delivery item(s). Tasks such as installations, disassembling doors or any other task will not be carried out. 

11. Products will not be delivered through entrances other than those of normal transit, PriceSmart does not perform entrance maneuvers through balconies, windows or accesses other than those of normal transit of the place of delivery. 

12. If the product cannot be delivered through the normal entrance tunnel, the product will be delivered to the property's concierge only with authorization and under the responsibility of the member. 

13. The delivery personnel will not receive any economic or any other incentive from the member, they are also not authorized to perform tasks other than the delivery and those specified in agreement  document. 

14. No packaged product will be delivered; PriceSmart´s responsibility is to deliver the product in optimal physical condition and unpack for the member to inspect. 

15. The delivery staff is committed to offer the best possible service to the member; PriceSmart´s interest is to provide the member with an outstanding shopping experience.  

16. The delivery service will only cover the urban area of ​​the city where the purchase was done. To verify coverage of other cities, please consult with sales floor staff or Click & Go Staff

 

3. Update and win

Bases of the Promotion

This contest is organized by PRICESMART DOMINICANA, a commercial company constituted and organized in accordance with the laws of the Dominican Republic, domiciled at Avenida Charles Sumner No. 54, Los Prados, in this city of Santo Domingo, which will be responsible for the present contest.

 

Contest Description

The "Update and Win - Q1 FY24" contest will take place in the PriceSmart Dominicana Clubs and on the entity's social networks, as follows:

 

Steps to participate:

STEP 1:

Update your information by filling out the forms that will be available in any of our clubs in the cashier area or in the registration centers located in the PriceSmart clubs in the Dominican Republic or through our Telemarketing representatives.

STEP 2:

Deposit the form in the mailbox located in any of the clubs and you will already be participating

Dates:

  • Promotions apply to members who register their participation according to the instructions given, from August 15, 2023 to October 30, 2023.
  • The raffle will be held on November 1, 2023
  • Members will be contacted no later than two days after the raffle at the contact numbers in our database.

Raffle:

  • Winners will be selected among the members who update their data in the 5 Clubs (1 winner per club) in the country:
  • PriceSmart Los Prados
  • PriceSmart Arroyo Hondo
  • PriceSmart Santiago
  • PriceSmart San Isidro
  • PriceSmart Bolivar

 

Prize:

There will be a raffle for a 55” TV in each of the clubs.

The winner will be able to claim their prize at the PriceSmart Club where he/she was the winner. Claims to redeem the prize and guarantees must be addressed directly to the Membership Management of the Club in question. Such contacts will be given to the winner at the time of the prize being informed.

The prize may not be transferred to third parties of the winner. Only the owner of the winning Membership may claim the prize or a person duly empowered by it.

 

Selection criteria

When closing the contest, PriceSmart Dominicana will publish the name of the winners of the promotion.

The raffle will take place in each PriceSmart Club where they will have the mailboxes with the information of the participants who have completed the information in their club. The draw will be documented.

The winner will be chosen on the dates previously established in this document. From that moment on, the winner will be contacted in order to confirm their information and inform about the prize and delivery date. Maximum response waiting time after contacting the winner is 7 calendar days.

If the winner does not meet the criteria described in the previous paragraph, the institution may transfer the prize to the participant who has been in the next place in the draw.

An authorized PriceSmart Dominican Republic staff will contact the winner to coordinate the delivery of the prize.

Participation Restrictions

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, reside in the Dominican Republic, and be an active PriceSmart member at the time the prize is awarded.

Those who, during the validity of this contest, are PRICESMART DOMINICANA employees, directors, officers, direct associates of employees (parents, children, spouses, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law), contractors, suppliers, may not participate. , employees of advertising agencies, as well as people with current or past judicial processes against PRICESMART DOMINICANA or persons against whom said company has established a judicial process.

Conditions of Participation

PRICESMART DOMINICANA may disqualify participants whose publications inside and outside the contest go against the philosophy of the institution, incite violence, sexuality, alcoholism or go against Dominican laws. Likewise, they will have the right to disqualify those participants on suspicion of fraud or other activities that threaten the healthy competition of the contest. PriceSmart will notify the participant without this implying compensation and without the duty to justify him beyond what is established in these conditions.

 

Particular conditions

The winner must present the original of their identity document and their ACTIVE PriceSmart Membership. In the event that they do not have a PriceSmart Membership (because they have canceled it during the time of the promotion), they must request it to redeem the prize.

The winner, as well as everyone who participates in the contest, accepts that photographs and videos be taken to be published by the institution, which may be published and used by PRICESMART DOMINICANA for a period of 12 months from the delivery of the prize. Having said this, the winner declares to waive any claim against PRICESMART DOMINICANA for the use of his image for advertising and commercial purposes, as well as waiver to request compensation or indemnification that originates from the use of those images and videos.

Modifications

PRICESMART DOMINICANA may modify or suspend the contest in whole or in part, giving due notice on the corresponding social networks and modifying these bases and conditions, which will not generate any responsibility for PRICESMART DOMINICANA.

In cases of force majeure that make it impossible to carry out the contest, the institution will have the right to suspend it until said causes disappear. PRICESMART DOMINICANA will not incur any responsibility in the event that, due to an act of God or force majeure, this promotion cannot be held.

All modifications that are going to be made to this contest will be notified to PROCONSUMER for approval purposes, in accordance with the provisions of resolution 009-2011, Article Two.
